Yes, alcohol consumption for long time can lead to redness, swelling & bleeding from its inner lining (Esophagitis). It can also damage liver leading to cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Patient may vomit blood in vomitings
Unfortunately, early cancer may not give rise to symptoms. However, patient may have loss of weight & appetite, difficulty in swallowing food and even blood in vomitings rarely.
Rarely yes, when a patient is suffering from early squamous cell carcinoma. Chemo radiotherapy alone may cure it. In general, majority of patients received Chemo radiotherapy before surgery followed by surgery and later on put on adjuvant chemotherapy.
In cases of accidental intake of acid/ Alkaline and pesticides , Esophagus can be replaced by stomach and colon after few months of injury.
Now a days, most of the dentures can be retrieved by endoscopy. However, when patient comes late, it may require combined Endoscopic and laparoscopic approach. Rarely, open surgery may be needed when minimally access approach fails.
